Let us introduce ourselves. We are ‘Even More Special’ Home Sanctuary, based on the lovely island of Cyprus in the heart of the capital city, Nicosia. We take in senior and disabled animals that no one wants and heard about Tripawds while checking out sites giving information on animals who have undergone amputations. At EMS we have 3 kitties who have had to have limbs or paws removed. We look forward to sharing their adventures with you along with their other 33 siblings.
To understand us better you should know that we live on the small island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean Sea; an island that although beautiful and has Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, as her legend, has one of the worst animal rights reputations in Europe. Most of our kitties are found thrown in the various parks, to young to fend for themselves to be cared for by volunteers. Because of their humble beginnings they tend to develop, and in many cases, succumb to various viruses; with their little bodies struggling with other medical problems such as paralysis due to abuse or being run over it’s rare that we win. Those that do are often left blind or with weak immune systems.
Our pups are mainly seniors who have been abandoned when their former ‘owners’ decided they were no longer useful for breeding or hunting. When found they are usually blind, abused, severely ill (usually cancer), shot and/or starving.
